Europe
BNK has been looking at shale basins in Europe for over 2 years when it was looking for areas to apply the knowledge it gained in shale plays to other areas. BNK decided that shale can’t exist just in North America and much like shale production began in the United States and then spread to Canada it would likely spread to Europe and BNK wanted to get there first. BNK has now been awarded concessions that total 3.2 million acres, 2.6 million net to BNK in 4 basins in Europe. In addition it has applied for additional concessions and continues to apply for others. After all the research has been done by it’s technical team and the concession applications have been submitted it takes another 5 to 9+ months to find out if it has been awarded the concession.
