Profile
BNK Petroleum Inc., an international energy company, is focused on the acquisition, exploration, and production of large hydrocarbon reserves, predominately unconventional. The strategic objective is to maximize the value of the shale and tight sand gas assets, while remaining focused on continued exploration and production activities. BNK is currently applying the knowledge gained in U.S. shale gas to Europe where it is aggressively pursuing land acquisitions and has leased about 3.9 million gross acres in four distinct basins.
The company has looked at over 25 basins in more than 10 countries in Eastern and Western Europe for shale gas potential. In June of 2009 BNK was awarded its first European concessions for shale gas, which were in Poland. In October of 2009, in December of 2009 and again in January of 2010 BNK was awarded 5 additional European concessions for shale gas in Germany. In March BNK was awarded 3 additional concessions for shale gas in the Baltic Basin of Poland and in May it was awarded another concession for shale gas in Germany. BNK believes it is one of the early companies to pursue shale gas land acquisitions in Europe and continues to both apply for and await decisions on previously submitted applications in Europe. This strategic focus provides for a stable and growing production platform from its U.S. operations while offering potential for a large future value opportunity from its European projects.
Exploration for and development of petroleum and natural gas resources requires specialized skills and knowledge in the areas of petroleum engineering, geophysics, geology, community relations, environmental impact, and land title management. The Company has a team of experienced professionals who all bring significant U.S. and International skills to BNK.
